Wiemer was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
Wiemer operated as Milwaukee's primary center fielder earlier this season, but he's worked in a reserve role of late and has a .483 OPS in 61 at-bats since the start of August. Blake Perkins (oblique) was reinstated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
