Jose Ruiz: Elects free agency

Ruiz elected to become a free agent Thursday.

Ruiz spent much of this season with the National League champion Diamondbacks before being removed from the 40-man roster just after the All-Star break. The 29-year-old will now look to latch on with another organization.
