Marlins' Nick Neidert: Designated for assignment

Neidert was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Neidert was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after the Marlins acquired Cole Sulser and Tanner Scott on Sunday. Neidert made eight appearances (seven starts) for Miami last year and posted a 4.54 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 35.2 innings.
