Phillies' Tyler Goeddel: Designated for assignment

Goeddel was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The move was made to clear room on the 40-man roster for Brock Stassi, who made the Phillies' Opening Day roster on Thursday. Goeddel slashed just .192/.258/.291 in 213 at-bats with the Phillies in 2016.
