Goeddel was claimed off waivers by the Reds on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of The News Journal reports.
Goeddel, the top Rule 5 draft pick in the winter of 2015, spent all of the 2016 campaign at the big-league level, but was DFA'd this offseason after batting just .192 in 92 games. The Reds decided to take a flier on the young outfielder given their focus on acquiring young talent, although the multitude of outfield options in Cincinnati and Triple-A Louisville forced the Reds to option him straight to Double-A Pensacola.
