The Pirates outrighted Tom to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday after he cleared waivers, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Tom was a Rule 5 selection by the Athletics over the winter before he was claimed off waivers by the Pirates in April, so the fact that he's staying in the Pittsburgh organization despite no longer possessing a 40-man roster spot suggests that Cleveland wasn't interested in taking back his rights. After submitting a .934 OPS with Cleveland's Triple-A affiliate in Columbus in 2019, Tom didn't look like an MLB-caliber player across his stops in Oakland and Pittsburgh this season, turning in a .139/.278/.231 slash line over 133 plate appearances.
