Carter started in left field and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Angels.
Carter returned to the starting lineup for the first time since May 8 after dealing with lower-back soreness. He had served as a pinch hitter in each of the previous two games and played left field for the final six innings of Saturday's 13-inning win.
