Carter is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Athletics.
The Athletics are sending southpaw JP Sears to the hill, so the left-handed hitting Carter will begin the early game of the twin bill on the bench. He should be back in the lineup for the nightcap versus right-hander Osvaldo Bido.
