Red Sox's Jake Faria: Signs minors deal with Red Sox

Faria signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Saturday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Faria has thrown 203 major-league innings as a swingman, recording a 4.70 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He spent last year in the Twins' system, struggling to a 7.48 ERA in nine starts and three relief appearances for Triple-A St. Paul.
