The Red Sox optioned Sherriff to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Sherriff appeared in both games of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays, so the Red Sox will add a fresh arm to a bullpen that needs it. In this case it's Kaleb Ort, with Ort being recalled from Worcester in the corresponding transaction. Sherriff should be back in the middle of the Boston bullpen at some point this summer.
