Rockies' Jordan Sheffield: Removed from 40-man roster

Sheffield was designated for assignment Friday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

Sheffield was optioned in early August and will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster as well. He owns a 3.16 ERA in 31.1 career major-league innings, but that comes with a poor 21:15 K:BB, so he could pass through waivers unclaimed.
