The White Sox claimed Speas off waivers from the Rangers on Tuesday.
Speas was designated for assignment by Texas on the second-to-last day of the regular season. He allowed three earned runs in just two major-league innings this year but posted a 2.86 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 56.2 innings between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock.
