With Houston having been officially eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's action, Altuve and other key regulars will sit for the season finale. Brice Matthews will step in at second base in place of Altuve, who has hit .265 with 26 home runs, 10 stolen bases, 77 RBI and 80 runs over 155 games on the campaign.

Schmitt will take a seat to close out the season after he had started each of the previous three games. Christian Koss will fill in for Schmitt at the keystone and will bat eighth.

Sosa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.
Sosa had started at shortstop each of the last four games, but he'll shift back into a utility role for the regular-season finale and for the Phillies' playoff run. Trea Turner (hamstring) will reclaim the shortstop job after being activated from the 10-day injured list.

Edman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Seattle.
Edman missed back-to-back games with an ankle injury before going 0-for-5 on Saturday. The 30-year-old will get a day off Sunday for Game 162, leaving second base duties to Hyeseong Kim.

Torres is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
With the Tigers clinching a playoff spot Saturday, manager A.J. Hinch will rest several key regulars in the regular-season finale in advance of the wild-card round. Along with Torres, Dillon Dingler, Spencer Torkelson, and Riley Greene will all sit out Sunday.

Chisholm (forearm) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
The AL East crown is still up for grabs, but Chisholm won't be in the lineup after being hit in the left forearm by a pitch in the fifth inning of Saturday's 6-1 win. X-rays were negative, however, and Chisholm said he considers himself available off the bench Sunday even while he's still dealing with some swelling and soreness, per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. With 31 homers and 31 steals on the campaign, Chisholm is one of seven players to join the 30-30 club this season.

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Sitting for regular-season finale
Gimenez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Ernie Clement will start at shortstop while Davis Schneider mans second base with lefty Ian Seymour toeing the rubber for Tampa Bay in the regular-season finale. Gimenez is slashing a woeful .172/.229/.234 in September, but he has nonetheless maintained a regular role against right-handed pitching to close out the campaign.

Giants' Casey Schmitt: Cracks three-run homer in win
Schmitt went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies.
Schmitt put the Giants on the board and gave them a 3-2 lead with his long shot off Kyle Freeland in the third inning. It was Schmitt's 12th home run on the season, which is more than he tallied in the two years prior combined (11). He has a .707 OPS with nine runs, three homers and nine RBI in 78 plate appearances since Sept. 1.

Astros' Brice Matthews: Back in big leagues
Matthews was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Matthews will return to the major-league roster after being sent down Aug. 26, batting .209 with four home runs, 17 RBI, 12 runs scored and 11 stolen bases over 24 games following his demotion. Matthews will replace Jake Meyers (calf) with the big-league club after Meyers was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday.
