  • Brice Matthews SS | HOU

Astros' Brice Matthews: Back in big leagues

Matthews was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Matthews will return to the major-league roster after being sent down Aug. 26, batting .209 with four home runs, 17 RBI, 12 runs scored and 11 stolen bases over 24 games following his demotion. Matthews will replace Jake Meyers (calf) with the big-league club after Meyers was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Back in action Saturday

Edman (ankle) will serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter and bat leadoff against the Mariners on Saturday.

Ankle soreness has kept Edman from playing in the Dodgers' last two games, but a few days of rest now have the 30-year-old ready to return to the starting nine. In 10 games since returning from the injured list, he's gone 9-for-38 (.237) with a homer, five RBI and six runs scored.

  • Will Wagner 2B | SD

    Padres' Will Wagner: Rejoins Padres

The Padres recalled Wagner from the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.

Wagner was sent to the Padres' facility in Arizona following Xander Bogaerts' return from the injured list Tuesday, but the former will now be brought back onto the big-league roster to replace Ramon Laureano (finger). Wagner has slashed .222/.319/.278 across 145 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Padres this season and will likely come off the bench most days while in San Diego.

  • Nick Yorke 2B | PIT

    Pirates' Nick Yorke: Idle Saturday

Yorke isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta.

Yorke will catch a breather Saturday after going 2-for-4 and scoring a run during Friday's victory. Spencer Horwitz will shift to second base while Yorke is on the bench, opening up first base for Rafael Flores.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Moves to 60-day IL

The Rangers transferred Semien (foot) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Semien has already been ruled out for the 2025 season due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot. His move to the 60-day IL will simply act as a way to clear space on the 40-man roster for Dom Hamel, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Saturday.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: X-rays on forearm negative

X-rays on Chisholm's left forearm came back negative following his removal from Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Chisholm left Saturday's contest after getting hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. He's also slated to undergo a CT scan to confirm the results of his X-ray, but it seems he managed to escape the incident without any structural damage. The Yankees may decide to sideline the 27-year-old infielder for Sunday's series finale to ensure he's fully healthy for the postseason, which would create an opportunity for Jose Caballero to pick up a start in the infield.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Exits after HBP

Chisholm was removed from Saturday's game against the Orioles after getting hit on the forearm by a pitch, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Chisholm immediately made his way into the dugout after taking a 97-mph sinker off his left forearm. The Yankees will presumably take him in for imaging to determine whether he suffered a fracture and should provide more information on his status in the near future.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: On bench Saturday

Marte is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.

Marte will get a breather for the Diamondbacks' penultimate game of the season. The star second baseman has a hit in seven straight games, going 12-for-30 (.400) with a pair of homers during that stretch. Connor Kaiser will fill in at second base.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers early in loss

Marte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Padres.

Marte extended his hitting streak to seven games, a span in which he has gone 12-for-30 (.400) with two homers and five RBI. The second baseman has 27 long balls this season, including four across 22 games in September. Overall, he's added a .283/.376/.512 slash line with 71 RBI, 86 runs scored, four stolen bases and 28 doubles through 125 contests.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Two hits in win

Gonzales went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored Friday against Atlanta.

Gonzales delivered an RBI single in the second inning as part of a three-run rally for Pittsburgh. He's had a quiet September, managing only 17 hits across 83 at-bats (.205) with seven RBI and seven runs scored in 21 games. Gonzales has just an 83 wRC+ across 400 plate appearances for the season, but he should be in the mix for regular playing time in Pittsburgh to begin 2026.
