  • Tommy White 1B | ATH

Athletics' Tommy White: Settling back into regular role

White will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Royals.

From a playing-time perspective, White appears to be an early beneficiary of Tyler Soderstrom's (hip) recent move to the injured list. White will pick up a fifth consecutive start Wednesday and will be taking a six-game hitting streak into the contest. The rookie corner infielder is slashing .264/.291/.377 with two home runs, six runs and four RBI through his first 15 games of August.

  • Orioles' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Exiting starting lineup

Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Yankees.

After starting each of the previous seven contests, Encarnacion-Strand will begin Wednesday's game on the bench. Coby Mayo will hold down third base for the Orioles in Encarnacion-Strand's stead.

  • Orioles' Blaze Alexander: X-rays show fracture has healed

X-rays taken Tuesday showed that Alexander's fractured left hand is fully healed, and he is aiming to rejoin the Orioles' active roster for their series against the Athletics that runs Aug. 28-30, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Alexander will require a rehab assignment first, and that's expected to begin soon. The utility player has been shelved since just before the All-Star break with his hand injury but will be back before the end of this month, if all goes well.

  • Coby Mayo 3B | BAL

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Goes yard again Tuesday

Mayo went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Yankees.

The 24-year-old spoiled New York's shutout chances when he took Carlos Rodon deep in the third inning, Mayo has homered in back-to-back games, continuing an impressive August that has seen him compile a .283/.327/.609 slash line over 49 plate appearances, with seven of his 13 hits going for extra-base hits (two double, two triples and three home runs).

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Involved in win

Ramirez batted second and went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the Giants.

Ramirez, who was moved up a spot in the order to take the place of the injured Chase DeLauter (hamstring), has hit safely in three consecutive contests. He's gone 6-for-11 during the mini streak, which is a sign Ramirez is coming around after a slow start upon his return from a wrist injury July 22. Prior to the streak, Ramirez batted .197 (12-for-61) over the previous 18 games.

  • Josh H. Smith LF | TOR

Blue Jays' Josh Smith: Goes long against Tampa Bay

Smith went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer during the Blue Jays' 10-5 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Smith got the Blue Jays to double-digit runs with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. He hit just one home run over 45 games for Texas before being traded to Toronto, where he has two long balls over 13 games with his new team while going 6-for-25 (.240).

  • Kazuma Okamoto 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Kazuma Okamoto: Makes franchise history Tuesday

Okamoto went 1-for-5 with a solo home run during the Blue Jays' 10-5 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Okamoto extended the Blue Jays' lead to 7-3 with a solo homer off Steven Matz in the fifth inning. It was the 25th long ball of the season for Okamoto, setting the Blue Jays' rookie home run record. He's provided a much-needed boost to Toronto's offense this season, especially with Addison Barger (elbow) missing most of the year and Vladimir Guerrero's (concussion) power struggles. Okamoto has a .731 OPS with one steal, 72 RBI and 43 extra-base hits across 498 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Blaze Alexander: Nearing rehab assignment

Alexander (hand) is expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next week, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Alexander is nearing the final stages of his rehab from a left hand fracture. Depending when exactly the 27-year-old is cleared to begin a rehab assignment, he could be back from the injured list before the end of August.

  • Tommy White 1B | ATH

Athletics' Tommy White: Goes deep again Monday

White went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 9-5 loss to the Royals.

After launching the first homer of his big-league career Sunday, White left the yard again with a solo shot in the fifth inning. Since debuting July 17, the 23-year-old has slashed .267/.295/.347 with two homers, two doubles, three RBI and 12 runs in 27 contests. White played third base Monday but has also seen action at first base in the absence of Nick Kurtz (thumb).

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Collects two hits in return from IL

Garcia went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and was caught stealing in Monday's 9-5 win over the Athletics.

In his first at-bat since June 22 after dealing with a muscle strain in his left hand, Garcia lined an RBI single in the first inning. The third baseman added another single in the second frame, marking his 20th multi-hit effort of the season. Garcia has had a disappointing 2026 due to both injuries and modest production, slashing .264/.321/.374 with three homers, 31 RBI, 33 runs and five stolen bases across 70 contests.
