Kyle Karros 3B | COL
Rockies' Kyle Karros: Nearing rehab stint
Karros is hopeful to be cleared from the league's concussion protocol Tuesday, and then play for Double-A Hartford from Thursday to Sunday, Eli Whitney of Blake Street Banter reports.
This plan all depends on whether Karros comes out of concussion protocol Tuesday, though either way, he appears to be trending in the right direction. The 24-year-old landed back on the concussion injured list Aug. 23 after experiencing additional symptoms, so the club is presumably taking it slow with the third baseman to ensure he's fully healthy before activating him. If all goes well, Karros could be back in the big leagues for the start of Colorado's road series Sept. 8 against the Yankees.

Jose Fernandez 3B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Jose Fernandez: Sent to Reno
Arizona optioned Fernandez to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
After two weeks with the big-league club, the Diamondbacks are sending Fernandez back to Triple-A. Over his last seven games in the majors, the 22-year-old slashed .267/.389/.267 over 18 plate appearances. Arizona needed to clear a roster spot for Ketel Marte (knee) in his return from the 10-day injured list.

Jorbit Vivas 2B | WAS
Nationals' Jorbit Vivas: Drawing fifth straight start
Vivas will start at second base and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Marlins.
Vivas will remain in the lineup for a fifth game in a row after going 4-for-11 with two doubles, four walks, one stolen base and one RBI over the prior four contests. Four of those starts have come at second base, but assuming CJ Abrams quickly moves past the back issue that resulted in him being scratched from the lineup Monday, Vivas could end up pushing Brady House for playing time at the hot corner during the final month of the season.
-
Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Taking seat Monday
Baty is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.
Baty will take a seat for the second day in a row, after he had started in each of the Mets' prior four contests. With the Orioles picking up Luis Robert via a waiver claim Monday and with Juan Soto likely to be limited to the designated-hitter spot following his recent return from the injured list, Baty could end up getting fairly steady playing time versus right-handed pitching in a corner-outfield spot.

Shay Whitcomb 3B | SF
Giants' Shay Whitcomb: Sitting after seven straight starts
Whitcomb is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Atlanta, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Whitcomb will hit the bench for the first time since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento a week ago. He made starts against four right-handers and three lefties over the Giants' last seven games, slashing a poor .077/.077/.231 with a 0:10 BB:K during that span. Osleivis Basabe will get the nod Monday at third base, and he could emerge as more of a factor at that position if Whitcomb is unable to get going at the plate in his future starts.

Cesar Prieto 3B | STL
Cardinals' Cesar Prieto: Elevated to St. Louis
The Cardinals recalled Prieto from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
Prieto will rejoin the big-league club for his third stint in the majors this season. In 79 games at Triple-A, the 27-year-old is slashing .308/.367/.505 with 12 homers and 43 RBI over 335 plate appearances. Prieto will replace the injured JJ Wetherholt (wrist) on the active roster.
-
Brady House 3B | WAS
Nationals' Brady House: Heading to bench Sunday
House is out of the lineup for Sunday's affair with the Marlins.
Despite recording six RBI over his last three games, House will not start Sunday's matchup with Miami. Jorbit Vivas will man the hot corner and bat sixth for Washington.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Cubs' Alex Bregman: Tallies three hits, homer in rout
Bregman went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 17-5 win over the Reds.
Bregman didn't quite match Pete Crow-Armstrong, who erupted for three home runs and six RBI, but the former still helped give the Cubs a jolt in the lopsided win with his 20th long ball of the season. The veteran third baseman has now reached the 20-homer plateau for the sixth time in his 11-year MLB career. After a slower start to the season by his usual standards, Bregman has gotten going in August with a .952 OPS, nine homers and 26 RBI across 26 games.
