Braves' Austin Riley: Still discomfort while throwing
Riley (abdomen) still felt discomfort while throwing Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Riley is eligible to come off the 10-day IL on Friday, but the expectation is that he's going to need more time to recover from his abdominal strain. Nacho Alvarez has been handling the bulk of the third-base duties for Atlanta while Riley has been sidelined.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Giants' Matt Chapman: Dealing with hand soreness
Chapman is out of the lineup Wednesday due to right hand soreness, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Chapman missed about a month of action earlier this summer due to a sprained hand, and he's experiencing some renewed soreness in the area. It's unclear if he's available off the bench. Casey Schmitt is starting at third base for San Francisco on Wednesday. The Giants have an off day Thursday ahead of a weekend set with the Rays.

Caleb Durbin 3B | MIL
Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Receiving breather Wednesday
Durbin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Durbin had started in each of the Brewers' previous three games, but he'll get a breather for the series finale as the Pirates send right-hander Mitch Keller to the mound. Anthony Seigler will get the nod at third base Wednesday, but Durbin could be a candidate to replace him at some point during the game, especially if the Pirates send a lefty to the mound.

Giants' Matt Chapman: Day off Wednesday
Chapman is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.
It looks like a routine day off for the veteran third baseman, as Casey Schmitt is getting the start at third and batting third. Chapman has slashed just .205/.302/.422 with four home runs, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored and a 10:27 K:BB over the last 30 days.

Braves' Austin Riley: Not expected to need rehab stint
Riley (abdomen) likely won't need a rehab assignment before rejoining Atlanta's lineup, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Manager Brian Snitker wouldn't offer a guess as to when the third baseman might be activated from the IL, but Riley's not expected to be too far behind Ronald Acuna (calf), who should rejoin the lineup before the end of the week. Riley has been sidelined since Aug. 2 after aggravating an abdominal strain that had previously cost him eight games sandwiched around the All-Star break. It's been a disappointing season overall for the 28-year-old, whose .737 OPS would be his lowest mark since he became a full-time player in 2021.

Caleb Durbin 3B | MIL
Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Hits late home run
Durbin went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.
Durbin joined in on the home-run party in the ninth inning, becoming the fifth Brewer to leave the yard with a two-run blast. It was just the second hit for Durbin over his last eight games, though he's only struck out once in 22 at-bats over that span.

Blaze Alexander SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Homers again
Alexander went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
Alexander belted his fourth home run in nine games, and his second in as many nights, by taking Jack Leiter yard in the third inning. He hadn't hit a round tripper in 2025 before the start of this nine-game stretch. The 26-year-old has been outstanding since taking Eugenio Suarez's spot at third base, and he's 14-for-38 (.368) in August with nine RBI and seven runs scored.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Reds' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Out of lineup Tuesday
Hayes is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.
Hayes is slumping at the dish, slashing .136/.174/.182 with one double, one run scored and one walk across 23 trips to the plate over the last seven days. Santiago Espinal will start at third base and bat ninth against left-hander Ranger Suarez on Tuesday.

Mark Vientos DH | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Remains on bench Tuesday
Vientos remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Vientos hasn't started three of the Mets' past four contests and appears to be falling into a reserve role, as Brett Baty is starting at third and batting ninth Tuesday while Starling Marte handles DH duties in the sixth spot in the order. Vientos has a .191/.269/.191 slash line across 11 at-bats over the last seven days.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Giants' Matt Chapman: Singles in loss
Chapman went 1-for-3 in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Padres.
Chapman singled on a groundball in the seventh inning, marking the second time this month he's recorded hits in back-to-back games. The third baseman has struggled in August, slashing .176/.293/.206 with four runs scored, two RBI and a double in 41 plate appearances. Overall, he's now slashing .231/.338/.427 with 53 runs scored, 44 RBI, 16 home runs and seven stolen bases across 399 plate appearances.
