Machado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-7 win over the Rockies.
Machado started the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning, marking his second long ball in as many days. In 11 September games, the third baseman is hitting .231/.354/.564 with four homers, nine RBI, nine runs and a stolen base. While Machado's .221/.310/.416 slash line is disappointing given his lofty standards, the 34-year-old has still produced 28 homers, 83 RBI, 78 runs and five stolen bases in 146 games this season.

Jordan (ankle) has progressed to jogging and fielding grounders, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Jordan recently ditched the walking boot he'd been wearing on his sprained left ankle, and he's aiming to advance to sprinting soon. The rookie infielder said Sunday that he's "really pushing everything I can do to get back out there," and he's got a chance to make it back later this month if he continues on his current trajectory.

Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 6-4 victory over San Francisco.
Machado sent a hanging sweeper over the left-field wall for a two-run homer in the second inning. The homer broke an 0-for-13 stretch across his previous three games, as it's been a very hot-and-cold 2026 campaign for the veteran third baseman. Overall, he's hitting .221/.311/.413 with 27 homers, 82 RBI, 77 runs and five stolen bases in 145 contests.

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Rangers.
Arenado did his part offensively in trying to spark a comeback, lifting a three-run homer off the left-field foul pole in the seventh inning. The veteran third baseman has now gone yard in four of his past seven outings. Across 140 games, he's hitting .240/.319/.446 with 25 homers, 73 RBI, 70 runs and four stolen bases this season.

Diamondbacks' Jose Fernandez: Recalled by Arizona
The Diamondbacks recalled Fernandez from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.
Fernandez is back with the big club after being sent down to Triple-A on Aug. 31, and the move corresponds with the Diamondbacks designating Lourdes Gurriel for assignment. Fernandez has a .262/.305/.356 slash line with nine steals, three home runs and 16 RBI across 207 major-league plate appearances this season.

Whitcomb went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-6 loss to the Padres.
The 27-year-old hit a solo shot off Michael King in the second inning, giving the Giants a 3-2 lead. Whitcomb has supplied at least one hit in four of the last five games, batting .263 with a home run and two additional RBI in 19 plate appearances over that stretch. He's slashing .162/.193/.350 with 11 RBI, five runs scored and four long balls across 85 plate appearances between San Francisco and Houston this season.

Karros is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Karros started the past five games after returning from a concussion Tuesday, going 3-for-19 with a triple and a solo homer, and he'll get a breather Sunday. Vimael Machin will step in at the hot corner and bat seventh for the Rockies in the series finale.

Baty (knee) is starting at second base and batting eighth in Sunday's series finale against the Yankees.
Baty was out of the Mets' lineup the last two games while working through a left knee injury, but he's been cleared to play in Sunday's matinee. He recorded a hit in each of his last six games prior to his injury, going 6-for-14 with two home runs, 10 RBI and two doubles in that span.

Hayes will start at third base and bat ninth Saturday against the Brewers.
Hayes was left off the first draft of Saturday's lineup, but he'll step in to cover third base while Juan Brito shifts to second to cover for Matt McLain, who was scratched for unknown reasons. Hayes has posted just a .453 OPS across 220 plate appearances this season and has gone 1-for-9 since returning from the IL on Monday.
