  • Petey Halpin CF | CLE

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Heading back to bench Sunday

Halpin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Halpin will hit the bench after starting the last four games while going 2-for-15 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run. Despite the recent spike in playing time, Halpin still appears to be viewed as a part-time option in the outfield while all of Chase DeLauter, Steven Kwan and Jo Adell are available.

  • Evan Carter CF | TEX

Rangers' Evan Carter: Taking seat against lefty

Carter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Carter will head to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Joc Pederson and Nicky Lopez while the Angels send southpaw Yusei Kikuchi to the bump. Ezequiel Duran will replace Carter in center field and will bat fifth.

  • Astros' Taylor Trammell: Sitting for third straight game

Trammell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Trammell will take a seat for a third straight game and may be losing hold of regular duties in left field. LaMonte Wade will cover the position for a second straight contest after going 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored Saturday.

  • Brett Callahan LF | DET

Tigers' Brett Callahan: Hitting bench Sunday

Callahan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Javier Baez will get the nod in left field Sunday, but Callahan has emerged as the Tigers' primary option at the position since being called up from Triple-A Toledo a week ago. He has started five of the ensuing six games, going 5-for-17 with one home run, one triple, one double, five RBI and two runs.

  • James Outman CF | DET

Tigers' James Outman: Activated, DFA'd by Detroit

The Tigers reinstated Outman (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Sunday and subsequently designated him for assignment.

The 29-year-old spent just over a week on the concussion IL but won't stick on Detroit's active roster now that he's healthy. Outman was claimed off waivers from the Twins in mid-June, but the Tigers have apparently seen enough after he posted a .183/.240/.366 slash line and 42 percent strikeout rate in 45 games.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Not in Sunday's lineup

Duran is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Giants, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.

The 29-year-old has started regularly against left-handed pitching this season, but he finds himself on the bench Sunday for the second straight game that Boston has faced a southpaw. It's unclear if that will be a trend for the rest of the season, but Duran certainly hasn't performed well versus lefties this year with a .570 OPS in 125 plate appearances. Eli White is picking up a start in left field and batting eighth against San Francisco starter Matt Wilkinson.

  • Heliot Ramos RF | NYY

Yankees' Heliot Ramos: Set to lose PT with Bellinger healthy

Ramos is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Ramos had started in each of the Yankees' last eight games, but he'll head to the bench Sunday and looks like he'll be at risk of moving into a short-side platoon role in the outfield after New York reinstated Cody Bellinger (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list. Since being acquired from the Giants on Aug. 3, Ramos has provided a weak .113/.230/.189 slash line with four extra-base hits (all doubles), one stolen base, one run and one RBI in his 16 games in pinstripes.

  • Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: On bench against southpaw

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed hitter will head to the bench for the third time in four games while the Blue Jays face off against another lefty starter in Carlos Rodon. Daz Cameron will take Sanchez's spot in left field and bat seventh.

  • Nathan Lukes RF | TOR

Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Idle against southpaw

Lukes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed hitter will remain on the bench for a second straight day with another southpaw on the bump for New York in Carlos Rodon. Myles Straw will receive a start in center field while Brett Bateman slides over to cover Lukes' usual spot in right field.

  • Myles Straw LF | TOR

Blue Jays' Myles Straw: Drawing fourth straight start

Straw will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Straw will stay in the lineup for a fourth straight game, but he's mostly benefited from the Blue Jays facing three left-handed starting pitchers during that stretch. The trio of Jesus Sanchez, Brett Bateman and Nathan Lukes still appears to be locked in as the Blue Jays' preferred outfield configuration against right-handed pitching.
