Victor Mesa Jr. RF | TB
Rays' Victor Mesa: Omitted from lineup Sunday
Mesa (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Mesa exited Friday's 6-5 loss after seven innings due to left hamstring tightness and will be left out of the starting nine for a second straight day. According to MLB.com, manager Kevin Cash labeled Mesa as day-to-day and said that the young outfielder is "going to be OK," so Mesa appears likely to avoid a stint on the injured list. Mesa was able to make a pinch-hitting appearance in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss, which suggests that his absence Sunday may have more to do with a lefty (Trevor Rogers) starting for the Orioles than the hamstring injury.

Henry Bolte CF | ATH
Athletics' Henry Bolte: Accounts for offense in loss
Bolte went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and a double in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers.
It took a review to confirm, but Bolte opened the scoring with a three-run blast in the second inning. That would be all for the Athletics' scoring in the contest, but the outfielder had a strong individual performance, marking his third three-hit game in August. He's batting .314 (16-for-51) in August, lifting him up to .261 on the year with a .702 OPS, six homers, 25 RBI, 29 runs scored, 10 doubles and 14 stolen bases over 80 games.

Wyatt Langford LF | TEX
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Hits go-ahead homer
Langford went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Athletics.
Langford had gone 19 games without a multi-hit effort entering this contest. He hit just .119 with four extra-base hits and a 10:22 BB:K in that span. The outfielder's biggest hit Saturday was his go-ahead homer in the sixth inning, which ended up being the difference. Langford is batting .256 with a .789 OPS, 14 homers, 33 RBI, 41 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples and nine stolen bases over 72 games.

Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS
Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Leads offense in win
Abreu went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two doubles in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Pirates.
Abreu's second-inning blast was ultimately all the Red Sox needed for the win. The outfielder has hit safely in five straight contests, going 7-for-18 with two homers and four doubles in that span. For the season, he's batting .259 with an .811 OPS, 22 homers, 65 RBI, 69 runs scored, 27 doubles, three triples and eight stolen bases over 120 contests. With about six weeks left in the season, Abreu has time to set career highs in most areas, as he's right in line with his counting stats from last year.

Roman Anthony LF | BOS
Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Embarking on rehab assignment
Anthony (finger) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Portland, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports.
Anthony has been on the injured list since early May due to a sprained wrist and sprained finger, but he's hit all the benchmarks to be cleared for a rehab assignment. He may need a lengthy stint in the minors given his extended absence, but the Red Sox are inching closer to getting significant reinforcements for the final weeks of the regular season.

Tyler Soderstrom LF | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Idle amidst hitting streak
Soderstrom is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Rangers on Saturday.
The Rangers are sending southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the mound, so the lefty-hitting Soderstrom will be on the bench for the start of Saturday's game while the Athletics go with Zack Gelof, Henry Bolte and Lawrence Butler in the outfield from left to right. Soderstrom is in the midst of an 11-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 12-for-42 (.286) with one steal, two home runs, five doubles, six RBI and eight runs scored.
-
Taylor Ward RF | SEA
Mariners' Taylor Ward: Sitting third straight
Ward (quadriceps) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.
Saturday will mark Ward's third straight absence from the starting nine due to tightness in his quad. The Mariners haven't indicated that he'll require a trip to the IL, though that may change if he doesn't return to the lineup within the next couple of days. Victor Robles will start in right field and bat eighth.

Joshua Lowe LF | LAA
Angels' Josh Lowe: Snaps homer drought Friday
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday in a loss to the Royals.
Lowe had a big moment when he swatted a solo homer in the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie, but Kansas City ultimately came back and pulled out the victory. The long ball ended an 18-game stretch without a homer for Lowe, though many of his plate appearances during that span came as a pinch hitter or following entrance as a defensive replacement. With that said, Lowe has started each of the Angels' past three games, and his playing time has ticked up overall since Jo Adell was traded to Cleveland in early August.

Victor Mesa Jr. RF | TB
Rays' Victor Mesa: Sitting out Saturday
Mesa (hamstring) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Mesa was pulled from Friday's contest due to tightness in his left hamstring, and he'll take a day off Saturday to heal. Jonny DeLuca will fill in as Tampa Bay's right fielder and bat sixth.

Carlos Cortes LF | ATH
Athletics' Carlos Cortes: Tallies three RBI in win
Cortes went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBI and a walk in Friday's 8-3 win over the Rangers.
Cortes came to the plate with the bases loaded in the first inning, lacing a bases-clearing double to give the Athletics an early 3-0 lead. The 29-year-old has racked up seven RBI over the past three games, matching the seven RBI he recorded across his previous 30 contests. Overall, Cortes is slashing .260/.337/.415 with seven homers, 35 RBI, 23 runs and two stolen bases across 91 games this season.
