  • Mike Trout CF | LAA

Angels' Mike Trout: Exits after HBP

Trout was removed from Saturday's game versus Pittsburgh after being hit by a pitch on the hand, Erica Weston of Angels Broadcast Television reports.

Trout went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI over his first four plate appearances before being hit on the hand with a pitch in the top of the ninth inning. The veteran outfielder was then replaced by Jose Siri on the basepaths. Trout underwent X-rays on his hand that came back clean, per Weston. It's not yet clear if Trout will be in the lineup Sunday for the series finale.

  • Riley Greene LF | DET

Tigers' Riley Greene: Homers twice in win

Greene went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, four RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Guardians.

Greene drove in runs in four separate plate appearances, highlighted by his second multi-homer effort of the campaign. It was a much-needed performance for the 25-year-old, who entered the contest just 1-for-13 in three games since returning from the injured list Tuesday. On the season, he's slashing .273/.364/.461 with 18 home runs, 60 RBI, 69 runs scored and three steals across 511 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Jac Caglianone: Lifted early with sore elbow

Caglianone was removed from Saturday's matchup versus Toronto due to left elbow soreness.

Caglianone notched an RBI on an infield single in the first inning but was replaced by Nick Loftin in right field for the top of the third. It's unclear at this point if Caglianone is in danger of missing additional time, but the Royals are unlikely to ask him to play through a significant injury given that they entered Saturday's game nine games back of a wild-card spot. John Rave and Loftin are among the candidates for additional starts in the outfield if Caglianone does need to sit out with the injury.

  • Alek Thomas CF | LAD

Dodgers' Alek Thomas: Designated for assignment

The Dodgers designated Thomas for assignment Saturday.

Thomas spent some time with the big-league club in late August but was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sept. 1. He'd been hitting well since his return to OKC, going 4-for-15 with three homers, four RBI and a stolen base over three games, but Los Angeles DFA'd him to make room on the 40-man roster for Bobby Miller (shoulder), who was activated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Lazaro Montes RF | SEA

Mariners' Lazaro Montes: Remaining out Saturday

Montes (hip) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

Montes was taken out of Friday's contest early due to left hip soreness, and he'll need at least one more day to recover before returning to action. Taylor Ward will pick up a start at designated hitter as a result and bat seventh.

  • Jose Fermin LF | STL

    Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Idle Saturday

Fermin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Fermin went 0-for-2 with a run scored Friday to snap what had been a modest four-game hitting streak, and he'll now get a chance to rest his legs while Bryan Torres starts at second base and bats leadoff.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Outrighted to ABQ

Freeman cleared waivers Saturday and was sent outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Freeman has slashed just .247/.317/.314 across 288 plate appearances with the Rockies this season, and he'll likely play out the remainder of the season at Triple-A after passing through waivers unclaimed. His 40-man roster spot was filled by Vimael Machin, who was selected to the active roster Saturday.

  • Jacob Young CF | WAS

Nationals' Jacob Young: Getting Saturday off

Young isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Young will grab a seat on the bench to begin Saturday's game after walking twice in Friday's series opener. Daylen Lile, Dylan Crews and James Wood will form Washington's outfield trio with Young out.

  • Aaron Judge RF | NYY

Yankees' Aaron Judge: Facing live pitching Monday

Judge (ribs) is expected to face live pitching Monday at Yankee Stadium, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Judge began taking batting practice on the field Friday, and his graduation to facing live pitching during New York's upcoming scheduled day off keeps him on track to return sometime during the team's homestand next week. Manager Aaron Boone said that Judge will likely require some kind of build-up plan other than a traditional minor-league rehab assignment, suggesting the 34-year-old may be limited to five to seven innings per game or given regular off days once activated.

  • Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Losing out on playing time

Sanchez is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Royals on Saturday.

Sanchez has been in Toronto's starting lineup just twice over the last seven games despite the Blue Jays facing right-handed pitching in some of those contests. Myles Straw is starting in left field and looks to be the preferred option in the outfield over Sanchez for the time being.
