The Astros designated Barrosa for assignment Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
After being claimed off waivers from Arizona on Sept. 6, Barrosa went 1-for-7 with two walks while appearing in four games for the Astros. The Astros claimed Barrosa off waivers from the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Arizona booted Barrosa off its 40-man Friday, but he has found a new home with Houston and will join the big club right away with Jake Meyers optioned to Triple-A to clear a spot on the active roster. Barrosa is a switch hitter who can play all three outfield spots, but he has yet to show much offensively at the highest level (career .543 OPS).

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Fills in at right field
Barrosa started in right field and went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Athletics.
Barrosa doubled and scored on Ketel Marte's fifth-inning home run. The former got the start in place of Corbin Carroll, who was held out of the lineup a day after suffering a hyperextended elbow. Barrosa's opportunity may be a short-lived, as Carroll's injury is not considered serious.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: On bench for third straight game
Barrosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
After starting in center field in the first two games following Jordan Lawlar's (hamstring) placement on the injured list Saturday, Barrosa now finds himself on the bench for a third straight contest. Rather than getting an extended look in a near-everyday role, Barrosa looks like he'll continue to serve as a fourth outfielder while Tommy Troy instead works as the primary replacement for Lawlar in center.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Makes second straight start
Barrosa started in center field and went 0-for-2 in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Minnesota.
Barrosa made a second consecutive start in center field after the club placed Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. He's projected to miss between four and six weeks, which means an opportunity for the light-hitting Barrosa, who is slashing .181/.252/.352 over 119 plate appearances. Prospect Tommy Troy is also an option, but manager Torey Lovullo wants him to work with outfielders coach Dave McKay before entrusting him to center field, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports.

Getting the start Saturday, Barrosa was able to make a rare impact with the bat in his first multi-hit game since May 1. The outfielder is batting just .184 with a .616 OPS, two homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 116 plate appearances.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Finishes in center field Friday
Barrosa entered Friday's game as a pinch runner and finished out Arizona's 9-5 win over the Twins in center field. He went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance.
Barrosa, who initially entered as a pinch runner for left fielder Lourdes Gurriel in the seventh inning, stayed in the game to play center field while Jordan Lawlar moved to left. An inning later, Lawlar was removed from the game due to a hamstring injury and potentially faces a second stint on the IL this season. If Lawlar misses time, either Barrosa or Tommy Troy could play center field.

Barrosa isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Enters for injured teammate
Barrosa entered Friday's game during the sixth inning for the injured Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) and went 0-for-1 in a 3-2 loss to Colorado.
Barrosa would be the most likely beneficiary if Gurriel is forced to miss time. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo admitted to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com there was some level of concern about Gurriel, who will undergo an evaluation Saturday. Barrosa is slashing .181/.253/.349 over 93 plate appearances.

Barrosa started in left field and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Cubs.
Barrosa had the most unlikely of doubles in the sixth inning when his attempted sacrifice bunt, which Chicago third baseman Alex Bregman thought was heading into foul territory, stayed fair and rolled into left field. Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Homers off bench
Barrosa went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 10-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
Barrosa entered the game as a defensive replacement for Corbin Carroll (back), but Carroll is expected to be fine for Tuesday versus the White Sox, per Alex D'Agostino of SI.com. As long as the Diamondbacks have their preferred outfield of Lourdes Gurriel, Alek Thomas and Carroll (from left to right) available, Barrosa is likely to be limited to a part-time role at best, though he could carve out some at-bats as a switch hitter. Barrosa's homer was his first of the season to go with five RBI, seven runs scored, seven doubles, one triple and a .243/.283/.480 slash line over 55 plate appearances.

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Should play through finger issue
Guerrero picked up a minor finger injury in Friday's loss to the Brewers, but Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated after the game that the first baseman is expected to be in the lineup Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Guerrero's left index finger clipped Jorge Barrosa on a play at first base, but he remained in the game Friday and doesn't look like he'll miss any time. Toronto can ill afford to lose Guerrero given all their other injuries, and through 19 games he's slashing .319/.427/.420 with one homer and eight RBI.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Losing work with Gurriel back
Barrosa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
After slashing .214/.267/.381 with six extra-base hits (five doubles, one triple), five runs and four RBI over a stretch of 12 consecutive starts, Barrosa will remain on the bench for the second day in a row. The switch-hitting Barrosa could still see regular starts against left-handed pitching, but his chances of playing on an everyday basis versus right-handers may have come to an end with Lourdes Gurriel making his return from the injured list.

With all of Pavin Smith (elbow), Carlos Santana (adductor), Jordan Lawlar (wrist) and Lourdes Gurriel (knee) on the injured list, Barrosa could have fairly clear path to regular playing time until the Diamondbacks reclaim some health.
