Fernando Cruz RP | NYY
Yankees' Fernando Cruz: Moved to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Cruz (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday.
The move corresponds with Alexander Cornielle being promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles. There's a chance Cruz returns to action if the Yankees make it to the World Series, though it's more likely that the right-hander is shelved for the rest of the 2026 season due to a partial UCL tear in his right elbow.

Tyler Zuber RP | MIA
Marlins' Tyler Zuber: Lands on IL
The Marlins placed Zuber on the 15-day injured list Friday with a sprained right elbow.
Zuber made his last appearance Tuesday, pitching a scoreless inning against the Cubs, and he'll now be shut down for the season because of his elbow injury. He'll finish 2026 with a 5.67 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 39.2 innings. Wikelman Gonzalez was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Bryse Wilson RP | MIL
Brewers' Bryse Wilson: Activated from IL
The Brewers reinstated Wilson (back) from the injured list Friday.
Wilson was initially expected to return from the injured list to pitch in Thursday's contest, but the Brewers instead chose to wait and give him another day to recover heading into their final regular-season series against the Cardinals. The 28-year-old righty hasn't pitched since Aug. 30 due to a lower-back strain, but he's posted a 2.55 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 24.2 innings across multiple stints with the Brewers this season. Lyon Richardson was DFA'd to make room for Wilson in Milwaukee's bullpen.

Lyon Richardson RP | MIL
Brewers' Lyon Richardson: Designated for assignment
The Brewers designated Richardson for assignment Friday.
Two days after joining the active roster, Richardson will now lose his place on both the 28- and 40-man rosters without appearing in a game. His spot will be given to Bryse Wilson (back), who returned from the injured list Friday in a corresponding move.

Jedixson Paez SP | BOS
Red Sox's Jedixson Paez: Summoned to majors
The Red Sox recalled Paez from Triple-A Worcester after the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Paez will be up to provide length out of the bullpen in the nightcap, replacing Raymond Burgos on the active roster. Paez has allowed a whopping 14 runs in 6.2 innings in the majors, but he fared well in five starts with Worcester this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 26:3 K:BB in 21.2 innings. He threw six innings of one-run ball in his most recent Triple-A outing back on Sept. 15.
-
Raymond Burgos RP | BOS
Red Sox's Raymond Burgos: Sent down Friday
The Red Sox optioned Burgos after the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Burgos tossed two hitless and scoreless innings in Game 1, fanning three. With MLB not allowing teams to add an extra player for twin bills in September, Boston went ahead and swapped Burgos out for a fresh arm in Jedixson Paez.

Aaron Civale RP | CHC
Cubs' Aaron Civale: Takes loss in Game 1 Friday
Civale (6-8) allowed one run on three hits and a walk across 2.1 innings of relief and took the loss in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Civale mostly pitched well but he allowed a single run in the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie and ultimately take the loss out of the bullpen. This was the veteran righty's first loss since July 10, and in 18 appearances since then, he's got a strong 1.72 ERA across 36.2 innings. That gives Civale some momentum heading into the postseason, and while he's not a high-leverage option for the Cubs, he gives the team someone who can reliably soak up some innings in relief.
-
Hancel Rincon RP | STL
Cardinals' Hancel Rincon: Back up from Memphis
The Cardinals recalled Rincon from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.
The 24-year-old reliever made his first two major-league appearances earlier this month at Coors Field and they did not go well, as he was knocked around for seven runs while recording only four outs. Rincon threw 42 pitches in Memphis' final game of the season Thursday, so he won't be available to pitch until at least Saturday and perhaps Sunday.
-
Jack Weisenburger RP | NYM
Mets' Jack Weisenburger: Optioned by Mets
The Mets optioned Weisenburger to the Florida Complex League on Friday.
Weisenburger spun a scoreless frame in Thursday's loss to the Rangers and will now be replaced by a fresh arm. The righty has pitched well in a mop-up role for the Mets, allowing three runs with a 14:4 K:BB over 12.2 innings covering seven outings.

Manuel Rodriguez RP | TB
Rays' Manuel Rodriguez: Back from injured list
The Rays reinstated Rodriguez (back) from the 15-day injured list Friday.
After logging a trio of rehab appearances with Triple-A Durham, Rodriguez returns to the big-league bullpen, replacing Jake Woodford. Rodriguez has made just four appearances for the Rays so far this season in between IL stints, after taking the ball 31 times for Tampa Bay last regular season.
