Ingles is expected to slot in as the Jazz's starting small forward when the NBA season resumes with Bojan Bogdanovic set to undergo season-ending wrist surgery, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. Ingles has started 37 games this season, but he had come off the bench for the Jazz's final seven games before the NBA went on hiatus. With Bogdanovic now out of the picture, however, Ingles should slot into a starting role on the wing, while Royce O'Neale likely bumps over to power forward. Both Ingles and O'Neale could absorb some of Bogdanovic's minutes, but reserve forward Georges Niang may see the biggest uptick in playing time with a key rotation player sidelined. In any case, a move to the starting five should prove beneficial for Ingles, who has been far better statistically in that capacity rather than coming off the bench. Over those 37 starts, Ingles is averaging 11.2 points, 6.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 31.6 minutes per contest.
Ingles finished with 20 points (8-12 FG, 4-8 3Pt), six assists, five rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes during Monday's 101-92 loss to the Raptors. Ingles had his best performance in almost two months, scoring a team-high 20 points. The return of Mike Conley has certainly had a negative impact on Ingles, who should only be viewed as an assists streamer despite the production here.
Ingles turned in eight points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six assists, five rebounds and one steal in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 112-104 win over the Knicks. Ingles continues to come off the bench but was one of four Jazz players to earn 30-plus minutes in this one. He has combined for 20 assists across the last three games, and, regardless of his role, Ingles has proven himself to be a versatile and well-rounded contributor as well as one of Utah's key cogs on both ends.
Ingles has been removed from the starting five in favor of Royce O'Neale, Shams Charania and Tony Jones of The Athletic report. Utah's coaching staff originally decided to remove Mike Conley from the starting five, going as far as telling the team of the lineup change, but later decided to change course. Now it's Ingles who will be moved to the bench to allow Royce O'Neale to enter the lineup. In 20 appearances off the bench this season, Ingles has averaged 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 27.6 minutes.
Ingles tallied eight points (3-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven assists and three rebounds in 30 minutes during Friday's 113-104 loss to the Spurs. Ingles continues to struggle for the Jazz despite the fact Mike Conley (rest) was in street clothes. He is outside the top-200 over the past two weeks and unless you are chasing assists, he offers very little upside at this stage. Perhaps he gets things going again but as of right now, he is not worth rostering in most situations.
