Kurucs was arrested on Tuesday in Brooklyn for allegedly choking his girlfriend, Trevor Boyer and Graham Rayman of the New York Daily News report. Police sources noted that a verbal argument spiraled out of control, which led to physical violence. Kurucs is slated to return to court on Oct. 21, and it's possible a solution or verdict won't be known until then.
Kurucs collected 15 points (6-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, and one block in 23 minutes during Sunday's 74-58 win over Croatia. Kurucs was extremely efficient and remains overqualified for summer league play after bursting out onto the scene as a surprisingly effective rookie contributor. His minutes will likely be scaled back as the event continues, and Kurucs could very well be in line for an even bigger role as a sophomore.
Kurucs posted 14 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one block across 30 minutes during the Nets' 96-92 loss to the Mavericks in a Las Vegas Summer League game Friday. Kurucs finished a solid rookie campaign with averages of 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds across 63 games, and he's looking to gain further seasoning this summer in Las Vegas. The 21-year-old got off to a strong start in that regard Friday, and even with the recent addition of Wilson Chandler via free agency, Kurucs still likely has the inside track to the starting power forward job in the coming season, particularly if he can put together a strong showing in the desert.
Kurucs, prior to being ejected in the fourth quarter, produced 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal across 15 minutes during Tuesday's 122-100 Game 5 loss against the 76ers. Some garbage time pushing and shoving resulted in Kurucs being ejected, and his season will end early. Considering he was drafted with the 40th overall pick this past summer, Kurucs had a relatively nice season. In 63 appearances, he posted 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds on 45.0 percent shooting while picking up 49 starts.
Kurucs will come off the bench for Saturday's Game 4 against the 76ers, Marc Narducci of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Coach Kenny Atkinson will give Jared Dudley the nod instead. Kurucs has scored just 11 points in the series.
