Hyde (concussion) was held out of Thursday's preseason finale against the Chargers.

The good news here is that Hyde passed the NFL's concussion protocol earlier this week and appears to be a go for the start of the regular season. It would have eased owner's concerns if he was able to suit up, but the 49ers opted to play it safe with arguably their best offensive weapon and kept him on the sideline. Hyde's participation in practices leading up to next week's season-opener against the Rams will be more telling about his availability for that game.
