Dynasty Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings: A step back for Davante Adams, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett
Updating Dynasty wide receiver rankings after the first week of free agency

For the most part I've tried to focus on the positives of free agency during this round of Dynasty rankings updated. And there were some positives at wide receiver. Jerry Jeudy is back inside my top-24 wide receivers thanks to Russell Wilson, JuJu Smith-SchusterWRSchuster is showing signs of life again with the Chiefs, and Amari Cooper's future looks more certain, and brighter than it did a month ago thanks to the Browns trade for Deshaun Watson.
While all that's true, the big move at wide receiver was Davante Adams, and it was probably a negative for both him and Hunter Renfrow. And while Jeudy and Courtland Sutton may be happy to have Wilson in Denver, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett could be in a freefall.
Adams is still the highest ranked in this group, though his ranking of No. 7 is the lowest I can remember in this space. Considering he'll be 29 years old at the start of the season and the uncertainty around a transition from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr, I wouldn't be surprised if I was still the high guy on him. For what it's worth, he's about as close to WR13 as he is to WR3, and a slow start in Las Vegas could cause him to drop quickly.
Metcalf also held on to a top-10 ranking but that may be solely because I've not yet accepted that the Seahawks are going to go into the year with Drew Lock as they're starting quarterback. There's still some hope that they somehow end up with Jimmy Garoppolo or Baker Mayfield, and that's essentially what this ranking is based on. If Seattle doesn't acquire a starting-caliber quarterback by the end of the NFL Draft, Matcalf will likely fall outside of the top-12 for the first time since his rookie year.
Lockett and Renfrow are back-to-back at WR39 and WR40 and it's more difficult for me to see how their value could rebound. Lockett has his age working against him, and unless he's traded (or the Seahawks acquire a starting quarterback) I'm not sure he'll ever rank higher. Renfrow is now stuck behind Adams and Waller during his contract year, which I don't believe will help him land a feature role following 2022. He's just not the type of player who can contribute for Fantasy purposes with six targets a game.
So what do you do with these guys? If I'm a contender, I'm holding Adams and hoping he can still be a top-five receiver this year. If I'm rebuilding I'm dealing him for an early 2022 first-round pick or multiple late firsts. Metcalf is a buy for rebuilders right now because he's young enough to wait out the bad quarterback play, but I would consider trading him if I had designs on winning my league this year. Lockett and Renfrow, I would be willing to deal for a second-round pick in most situations, though I'd probably need an early second to let go of the former.
