Elijah McGuire: Heads to Cowboys' practice squad

The Cowboys signed McGuire to the practice squad Sunday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

The Chiefs released McGuire on Saturday, and the 26-year-old running back will look to add depth in Dallas. The Cowboys are carrying just three running backs - Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle -- to begin the year, and if any of them are injured, McGuire will likely be promoted to the active roster since he has versatility as a pass-catcher.
