How to set up a league on CBSSports.com
Our Dave Richard walks you through a tutorial on how to set up the right Fantasy Football league for you on CBSSports.com.
You've come to the best place on the Internet for Fantasy sports, now let's get ready to play. Setting up a league on CBSSports.com is easy and fast, allowing you and your league-mates the opportunity to dive right in and start getting ready for the upcoming season.
Free Fantasy Football
Our basic Fantasy Football league takes the hassle out of the game. We've set the rules for you, we've set the roster requirements and we've even taken the role of Commissioner on. All you need is a draft date and Fantasy trophy aspirations.
There are three types of leagues available to you: Public (open to all), Private (password-encoded) and Winners (eligible only to those who have won a past free or premium league). Find the league that's best for you by using our search filter and finding one on a day you're able to draft. The rules are the same for every league. When you find one you like, click 'join.'
If you want to create a league of your own, simply click 'create a new league' and you'll have the chance to set your league type to public, private or winners, and then select your draft date. This is the best way to go if you're going to play with family and friends.
Setup is a snap from there, especially since the rules and Commissioner details are already done for you. All that's left is the draft -- let the trash talking begin!
Premium Fantasy Football
Our premium Fantasy Football leagues provide more of a challenge with more of a reward. Like the Free leagues, we take care of the minutiae for you -- all you need to do is show up to your draft. We also offer public, private and winners leagues based on your needs.
The difference is a cash prize for the winner of every single Premium league we run. Depending on the league, you could walk away with up to $3,500. Follow the instructions above for Free leagues when deciding on a Premium league and you'll be face-to-face with the competition in no time.
Commissioner Fantasy Football
The Cadillac of CBSSports.com Fantasy Games, our Commissioner Fantasy Football league offers you everything you can possibly imagine. You set the roster requirements, you set the scoring system, you set everything!
And when we say everything ... we mean everything. If you want to run a 20-team league with individual defensive players and points for completion percentage (among other things), you can. Our Commissioner league is fully customizable, and any rule you set can be changed at any time.
Setup is simple. Once you name your league, you can invite owners and create your rules, scoring system, schedule, roster limits and more. League-appointed Commissioners can set and change all of these things with just a couple of clicks of the mouse.
One of our newest features is our auction-style draft room. Many Fantasy veterans will admit that an auction is the fairest way to form a team because it gives every owner the chance to get every player whereas a snake draft doesn't allow for that. Now anyone can get Adrian Peterson thanks to our fine-tuned technology that synchronizes all of your league's owners together so that bidding is as seamless as if you were all in the same place. Your Commissioner can set this option under the 'draft & rosters' tab in the league setup.
Commissioner-league owners will also appreciate our enhanced League History area. If you've been with CBSSports.com for a long time, you can't afford to miss a quick walk down memory lane to see snapshots of your team's past. You'll see past winners and can look up any previous year's standings, power rankings and more. This might not be of interest to first-year Fantasy owners on the site, but in time you'll love that we've saved everything from your league.
We've even updated our Help Center to get you answers to your problems faster than before, and you can email us through there any time to get detailed assistance.
Once again, CBSSports.com is the ultimate destination online to play Fantasy Football. Now, strap on that helmet, get into a three-point stance and get into the game!
