Lions' Trevor Bates: Out of lineup Sunday

Bates (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Rams.

Bates suffered this injury late in the practice week and was unable to recover in time. He works mainly in a special-teams role, and his absence will make Kelvin Sheppard the No. 2 middle linebacker in Week 13.
