Rod Smith: Cut by Raiders

The Raiders released Smith on Tuesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.

The Raiders drafted Lynn Bowden -- a versatile talent -- in the third round and signed Theo Riddick this offseason, and Smith ended up being the odd man out. Last season he played almost exclusively on special teams, so he'll seek a similar role less than two weeks until the season opener.
