Zach Mettenberger: Waived by San Diego

Mettenberger was released by the Chargers on Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Mettenberger didn't even play in San Diego's last two preseason games, as he'd fallen behind both Kellen Clemens and undrafted rookie Mike Bercovici on the depth chart. The 2014 sixth-round selection owns an 0-10 record in 10 career starts, and he may not find an NFL home this season. Meanwhile, Clemens will likely serve as the top backup to Philip Rivers.
