McLaughlin was recalled from AHL Providence on Sunday.
With Patrice Bergeron (arm) unavailable for Monday's game in Montreal and Jack Studnicka (undisclosed) day-to-day, McLaughlin was brought up for emergency depth. The Massachusetts native just wrapped up his final year as the captain at Boston College, where he produced 21 goals and 31 points in 33 games.
