Willman was waived by the Devils on Friday with the intent to loan him to AHL Utica.
Willman made 18 regular-season appearances for New Jersey last year and tallied three goals and an assist while averaging 8:20 of ice time. The 29-year-old is with the Devils on a two-way deal and will likely split time between the AHL and NHL this season.
