Vaakanainen (undisclosed) won't play Monday against the Predators, but coach Dallas Eakins added that the recently acquired defenseman is healthy enough to take contact, Eric Stephens of The Athletic reports.
Vaakanainen participated in an optional skate Monday, and it sounds like he could be ready to make his Ducks debut once he gets a full practice under his belt. Anaheim has an off-day Tuesday, so it's possible the former Bruin could be ready to play as soon as Wednesday against the Blackhawks.
