Nelson scored a goal on a team-leading six shots Saturday in a 2-0 victory over Winnipeg.
Nelson gave the Islanders a 2-0 cushion just 47 seconds into the third period, leading a 2-on-1 rush before beating Winnipeg netminder Eric Comrie blocker side from the right circle. It was the seventh goal of the year for the suddenly red-hot Nelson, who was coming off a four-goal performance two nights earlier against Montreal. The longtime Islander appears to be well on his way to the sixth 20-goal campaign of his nine-year NHL career.
