Kempe had an assist, three hits and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Coyotes. The Swedish center is up to 28 points in 79 games this season. It's down from the 37 points he registered in his first full year in 2017-18, but it's still enough to make him worth a look in deeper formats next season.
Kempe potted a goal on four shots in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Canucks. Kempe has accumulated 12 goals and 27 points in 76 games this season, his scoring rate suppressed by the Kings' anemic offense of 2.39 goals per game. The first-round pick from 2014 had 37 points last year. He likely garners a little interest in deeper formats, but has room to grow still at 22 years old.
Kempe picked up an assist and two hits in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. He had the secondary helper on Dustin Brown's opening goal in the first period. Kempe has 26 points (11 goals, 15 apples) in 72 games this season, with 107 shots and a minus-10 rating. He's not likely to match the 37 points he posted in last year's breakout effort, but much of that can be attributed to the Kings' 30th-ranked offense (2.36 goals per game).
Kempe picked up a nice assist on rookie Carl Grundstrom's goal against the Ducks on Sunday night, Curtis Zupke of The Los Angeles Times reports. Coach Willie Desjardins has paired up Kempe with Grundstrom in the rookie's first two games since getting called up, and the two players have clicked so far. Kempe hasn't yet built on last season's 37-point breakout, with only 25 points so far, but perhaps this new pairing will spark an extended run of production.
Kempe scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Blackhawks. The 22-year-old hadn't lit the lamp since Feb. 7 and had just one assist in his prior eight games, so this performance was a welcome sight for Kempe. He now has 10 goals and 23 points through 64 games, putting him behind the scoring pace he produced in his first full NHL campaign.
