Owen Power D | BUF
Sabres' Owen Power: Nets game-winner in overtime
Power scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Maple Leafs.
Power's tally was the game-winner. The 23-year-old defenseman's strong start to the year continues, as he's effectively filled the void created by the Sabres' trade of Bowen Byram to Chicago. Through eight contests, Power has two goals, six assists, eight shots on net and a plus-4 rating over eight appearances. Power is still searching for his first power-play point of the year, but he is seeing decent usage in that situation and will get even more while Rasmus Dahlin (upper body) is on the mend.

Amadeus Lombardi C | NJ
Devils' Amadeus Lombardi: Adds pair of helpers
Lombardi notched two assists, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Rangers.
Lombardi is up to three helpers over seven contests to begin his rookie year. The 23-year-old forward had added 14 shots on net, eight PIM and three hits from a fourth-line role. Lombardi's potential will be limited in the bottom six, but he has done well with the playing time he's been given so far.

Dawson Mercer C | NJ
Devils' Dawson Mercer: Puts up two assists
Mercer logged two assists, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Rangers.
Mercer's offense is starting to surface -- he has three helpers over his last two games. The 24-year-old forward had gone five contests without a point to start the season. Mercer has added 18 shots on net, four blocked shots and a minus-2 rating. He's in a top-six role, so he should have plenty of opportunities to contribute, but his overall usage, particularly on the power play, is down to start 2026-27.

Matty Beniers C | SEA
Kraken's Matty Beniers: Forces OT with late goal
Beniers scored a goal Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Lightning.
His goal tied the game 3-3 and forced the overtime. Beniers snapped a four-game point drought with the goal. He now has two goals, two assists and 10 shots over eight games this season. Beniers is coming off a 20-goal, 50-point season in 2025-26, and that could be the kind of player Beniers is. Yes, he's just 23 years old, but the great step forward hasn't happened, and he debuted in 2021-22.

Brett Pesce D | NJ
Devils' Brett Pesce: Bags pair of apples
Pesce notched two assists, two shots on goal, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Rangers.
Pesce ended his scoring slump to begin the year. The 31-year-old had gone six games without a point despite seeing steady top-four minutes. Through seven outings, he's added seven shots on net, 11 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating. Pesce has missed the 20-point mark in three straight years after reaching it five times over his first eight seasons in the NHL. He carries little fantasy appeal as more of a defensive presence.

Dougie Hamilton D | NJ
Devils' Dougie Hamilton: Garners pair of assists
Hamilton logged two assists, including one while shorthanded, two blocked shots and a plus-4 rating in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Rangers.
Hamilton had his first multi-point effort of the campaign in this blowout. The 33-year-old defenseman was able to contribute a shorthanded point for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign, when he was with the Hurricanes. He's yet to add anything on the power play from the second unit. Hamilton has four points, 21 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and eight hits across seven outings this season.

Jacob Middleton D | CGY
Flames' Jake Middleton: Nets shortie in loss
Middleton scored a shorthanded goal on two shots, added two hits and logged 10 PIM in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
This was Middleton's first point as a Flame. The 30-year-old defenseman, acquired in a July trade that sent Blake Coleman and Olli Maatta to Minnesota, is serving as a veteran shutdown defenseman for a young team. Over seven games, Middleton has added nine shots on net, 14 hits, 14 PIM, 11 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating. He won't add much offense, but his physical play could still be useful in banger leagues.

Matthew Coronato RW | CGY
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Scores on late power play
Coronato scored a power-play goal on three shots in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
Considering the Flames' overall lack of offense, Coronato has done fairly well with two goals and two assists over seven games. Both of his tallies have come on the power play. The 23-year-old winger has added 16 shots on net, seven PIM and a minus-9 rating while seeing top-six minutes.

Dustin Wolf G | CGY
Flames' Dustin Wolf: Torched for six goals in Vegas
Wolf stopped 27 of 33 shots in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
Wolf had no answer for the Golden Knights' top six, which accounted for five of the six goals he gave up. The 25-year-old netminder is in a tough spot this season, but it appears his talent won't be enough to bail out the team in front of him most of the time. Wolf has a 1-4-0 record with a 4.85 GAA and an .834 save percentage over five outings. The Flames' next game is a tough matchup at home versus the Hurricanes on Sunday.

Mitchell Marner RW | LV
Golden Knights' Mitch Marner: Manages pair of assists in win
Marner logged two assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Flames.
Marner extended his point streak to five games (one goal, six assists) with this performance. The 29-year-old playmaker continues to be productive from a second-line role. He's at two goals, seven helpers, 22 shots on net and a minus-2 rating over nine appearances this season. Marner's more than capable of being a point-per-game player, so he should be a steady source of offense in his second year in Vegas.
