Nick Faldo won the 1990 British Open at St. Andrews. He got quite the ovation in his final British Open there on Friday. Faldo followed up his 80 on Thursday with a 71 on Friday that included a birdie at the Road Hole.
"I made three at 17!" screamed Faldo to ESPN's Tom Rinaldi after his round. "That was my thank you, St. Andrews."
Then he tossed on the sweater he wore to win the 1987 British Open and walked up No. 18 to thunderous applause.

He almost didn't play. Faldo said he accidentally stabbed himself with some deer antlers.
"I went to the hospital this morning because it was open again," Faldo told Rinaldi. "This morning I wasn't going to play. When you're a dad and your kids look at you and say, 'dad, we think you should do it," so you go 'well, I've got to do it now. I'm delighted they talked me into it. It was fantastic."
