High school football rankings: No. 1 Mater Dei, No. 2 St. John Bosco set for huge MaxPreps Top 25 showdown
Monarchs, Braves will face off as top two teams in the rankings for sixth time in seven years.
Mater Dei (Santa Ana) and St. John Bosco (Bellflower) both won last week to set up high school football's 15th No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown since 2000. The Southern California powerhouses will be meeting for the sixth time since 2018 as the top two teams in the MaxPreps Top 25.
Top-ranked Mater Dei improved to 7-0 with a 41-17 win at JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) last week. Senior quarterback Dash Beierly accounted for four scores and sophomore tight end Mark Bowman brought in a pair of touchdown passes.
