A's Jarrod Parker suffers another elbow injury while on rehab trail
Athletics right-hander Jarrod Parker has suffered another elbow injury. He is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and an elbow fracture. Thankfully the latest injury doesn't sound as serious.
The last few seasons have been very tough for Athletics right-hander Jarrod Parker. He blew out his elbow and needed his second career Tommy John surgery in 2014, then last year he suffered am elbow fracture during a rehab start. Luckily his rebuilt ligament was still intact.
Parker, who is still only 27, came to spring training this year feeling strong and ready to work his way back to the big leagues. His various side and bullpen sessions have gone well, and on Thursday, he was scheduled to face hitters for the first time. Unfortunately, Parker's elbow acted up again:

Trainer Nick Paparesta told reporters, including John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, Parker has been diagnosed with a lateral elbow impingement. The injury is on the other side is elbow, away from the fracture and his twice repaired ulnar collateral ligament, which is good news.
Parker went 25-16 with a 3.73 ERA (104 ERA+) in 378 1/3 innings for Oakland from 2012-13. He had his first Tommy John surgery in 2009. Parker was a first round pick of the Diamondbacks in 2007, then was traded to the A's in the Trevor Cahill deal a few years back.
Parker will undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury, but Paparesta is confident he will pitch again. Clearly this is a setback, but after two Tommy John surgeries and an elbow fracture, this idoes not sound as severe as some of his other elbow problems.
