The Cardinals have shaken up their roster a bit, recalling first baseman Xavier Scruggs and left fielder Greg Garcia from Triple-A Memphis while optioning catcher Ed Easley and pitcher Mitch Harris.
Scruggs owned a six-game hitting streak with the Redbirds before his recall. Garcia has been tearing it up all year to the tune of a .313/.405/.369 slash line with 27 runs and nine stolen bases in 214 at-bats.
Harris is the more significant of the demoted. He pitched in 16 games for St. Louis this season while compiling a 3.63 ERA. Easley batted just twice in his stint with the team.
