Earlier this month, the Yankees shipped right-hander Adam Warren to the Cubs in exchange for Starlin Castro. New York gave up a valuable swingman in exchange for a potential long-term solution at second base.

During a recent interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, Warren said he found out he had been traded while watching television. This isn't a case of the Yankees neglecting to tell him, however. Warren turned his phone off while on vacation out of the country.

"We were in St. Lucia," said Warren. "Our biggest rule when we go out of the country is to turn your phone off, put them into the safe in the room, and basically get away from technology."

Warren and his wife were at a restaurant when he saw the trade and his name scroll across the sports ticker. Here he is explaining how he found out about the trade:

"We were actually talking to some people and about 30 minutes later we walked out of the restaurant and my wife just started bawling," Warren said. "I was not really sure what to do. We stayed up pretty much all night trying to figure out what to do. Going through all the scenarios and just trying to process the feeling."

Warren and his wife made their way home a few days later, which is when he was able to talk to the Yankees, the Cubs and everyone else involved. "Once I got back in the country and heard from the Cubs, I think I really started to be okay with (the trade)."

I have to say, I envy Warren for being able to unplug like that. I spent two days away from my computer during Christmas this week and it was so very liberating. That said, I was still on my phone all the time. I can't imagine unplugging entirely like Warren did while on vacation.

Warren, 28, went 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA (120 ERA+) in 131 1/3 innings across 17 starts and 26 relief appearances in 2015.
