Cactus League and Grapefruit League play opened on Tuesday -- hooray! -- with the Pirates visiting the new-look Blue Jays in Dunedin. Both Josh Donaldson and Russell Martin are in the lineup for Toronto.

Also making their debut in Tuesday's game: the new pace of play rules. Hitters now have to keep at least one foot in the batter's box if they take a pitch, and it looks like Edwin Encarnacion is still learning the ropes:

If that happens in the regular season, it's a small fine. But this is Spring Training, so Encarnacion gets a free pass. I've already seen one other hitter make the same mistake, so Encarnacion is not alone.

It's super early, but I'm already a fan of the whole "keep one foot in the box" thing. These games are moving along quickly and there is noticeably less unnecessary downtime between pitches. I'm a fan.
