Jayson Werth signs handbook of fellow prisoner while in jail
Staying at the Fairfax (Va.) County Adult Detention Center after pleading guilty to reckless driving (at 105 mph), Washington Nationals slugger Jayson Werth continued serving his five-day sentence over the weekend. He passed the time by signing at least one autograph for a fellow inmate.

If a recent reddit post is to be believed, and it looks legit, Washington Nationals slugger Jayson Werth is making friends while doing time.
Werth, who is serving a five-day sentence for reckless driving in Fairfax County, Va., appears to have signed and personalized an inmate's handbook after being approached in the joint by a person saying he "was at Game 4" of the 2012 NLDS. That day, Werth connected for a game-ending solo home run against the St. Louis Cardinals to tie the series and set up a legendary Game 5 (won by the Cards).
Fond playoff memories for Nats fans are precious. It was the "last day in the system" for a man named George, and Werth made his day "neat."
"George,
Game 4 was sick!!
Jayson Werth 28"
Who knows what the last few days "in the system" for Werth might bring, but this document should answer the question, "What's the most unique item you've ever autographed, Jayson?"
Checking Werth's signature against those already on the internet, it appears to be his hand. And, having spoken with Werth a few times, it seems like his personality to oblige an autograph request — even in jail. It's also a good move as a step toward rehabilitation before Werth is placed back into society.
