Royals manager Ned Yost told reporters that infielder Miguel Tejada, who came to camp as a non-roster invitee with a minor-league contract, has made the club as a utility player. Tejada is hitting .333/.351/.444 with three RBI in 36 at-bats this spring.
The 38-year-old did not play in the majors last year, but hit .239 in 91 games with San Francisco in 2011, the last time he was in the big leagues.
