MLB free agency: Braves, Eddie Rosario agree to two-year, $18 million deal
Rosario was acquired by the Braves last July and won NLCS MVP

The defending champion Braves have agreed to terms to re-sign one of their postseason heroes. Eddie Rosario, who didn't start a game with the Braves until Aug. 29 but then won NLCS MVP, has agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal, the Braves announced Wednesday. There's also a club option for the 2024 season and, as part of the deal, Rosario will donate one percent of the contract to the Atlanta Braves Foundation.

Rosario, 30, hit .259/.305/.435 (98 OPS+) with 19 doubles, three triples, 14 homers, 62 RBI, 42 runs, 11 steals and 1.1 WAR in 111 games in the regular season last year between Cleveland and Atlanta. He was hampered by an abdominal injury and his best work came in October.
In 16 playoff games, Rosario hit .383/.456/.617 with three doubles, a triple, three homers, 11 RBI, 11 runs, a stolen base and the aforementioned NLCS MVP. He inspired many "Eddie!" chants around Truist Park and was a central figure in the Braves' first World Series title since 1995.
In Rosario's last three full seasons (2017-19) he hit .284 with a 114 OPS+ while averaging 28 homers and 88 RBI per season.
The Braves have traded for Matt Olson and now re-signed Rosario here in the last few days. Ronald Acuña, Jr. will likely return at some point in May, too, so the starting lineup eventually could look something like:
1. Acuña, CF
2. Ozzie Albies, 2B
3. Matt Olson, 1B
4. Austin Riley, 3B
5. Marcell Ozuna, DH
6. Rosario, LF
7. Adam Duvall, RF
8. Dansby Swanson, SS
9. Travis d'Arnaud, C
Obviously, that's just a rough outline for the time being, so we can have an idea what kind of lineup they're going to be running out there. It's pretty impressive, no?
