Storylines

Orioles: The rebuild continues. The O's have lost at least 108 games in each of the last three 162-game seasons, though we are starting to see signs of progress. Cedric Mullins had a breakout 2021 season and Ryan Mountcastle was solid as well. Catcher Adley Rutschman and righty Grayson Rodriguez are two of the very best prospects in baseball, and they should make their MLB debuts in 2022. All signs point to it being another long year in Baltimore, however.

Rays: There is excitement abound for Tampa. The club won the AL East last season and went to the World Series in 2020, and this year they'll have a full season of wunderkind Wander Franco. There are some questions about their rotation depth -- Tyler Glasnow will miss most (if not all) of the season with Tommy John surgery and Shane Baz will miss a few weeks with his own elbow surgery -- but the Rays figure to again rank among the very best teams in baseball in 2022.
