Padres will 'probably' choose Tyson Ross as fifth starter

Padres manager Bud Black indicated Thursday that the team will "probably" choose Tyson Ross over Andrew Cashner for the fifth starter role. The coaching staff will meet this weekend before officially making their choice. Ross has a 2.57 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in 21 innings this spring.

With Ross looking like the choice for the rotation, Cashner is likely to start the year in a long-relief role.
