Brad Ausmus met with the Astros in regards to the team's vacant managerial position, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

However, Ausmus has withdrawn his name from consideration for the position, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.

Ausmus had previously said he did not want to return to baseball.

An 18-year veteran and a former catcher, Ausmus played for the Astros for 10 seasons, hitting .246/.318/.327 in 4,464 plate appearances with the club.

Ausmus retired in 2010 at the age of 41 after playing 21 games with the Dodgers.
